The powersteering pump is worn out on my neighbours Leyland 245. The Perkins 3.152 motor is also used on many Massey Ferguson tractors, for excample MF 148 and 240. The pump is mounted on the front of the motor. The local part dealer says that powersteering pumps are unavailable for both tractormarks. Is this true? Which MF models do have this type of pump? The pump is shaped a bit like a hart lying on its side.

Hi Torleif,
Unles the pump is something different you should have no problem sourcing a new pump. I cannot find an AGRIPIECES or TRACPIECES (same firm) for Finland but you must surely have non-genuine parts suppliers.

The heart shaped pump to which you refer was mainly fitted to the MF 135 and 148, part number 1860 283 M91. MF 240's and 250's had a pump with a round canister which is listed as fitting 135,148,240,250 and 550 as the fitting is the same. You may need some minor modification of the pipework. The number for the later pump is given as 30/570-2 which is the BEPCO (UK) number with the OEM of 773 126 M92.
If you can't get one from a tractor parts supplier and good hydraulic equipment dealer should be able to help you.
Hope this helps
