Bought a 44 in May,didn't start it but the seller turned it over so I knew it was loose.Brought it home Saturday, she's lock up tight.Got the engine to turn a tiny bit only. What has happened? Will likely pull the head, have some soaking action in the plug holes.Lucky I didn't pay too much.Dan in AB

If you've had it sitting ouside without the exhaust covered even for a month, you could accumulate enough rust on the cylinder walls to make it hard to turn over. I'd squirt some oil in the cylinders (5 weight if you've got it). 1/4 cup per cylinder should do it. Put the tractor in 4th ot 5th and rock it back and forth until you can enlarge the amount that the crank turns. Keep working it like this until you can turn it over a half revolution. Then try it with the starter.
