I just overhauled the power shift on my 2705 MF. Put new clutch plates and all new o-rings in it. I have a IT&T manual that I followed to take apart and put back together, all parts in right place and none left over.

Problem is it works only in intermediate power shift, when I shift to either high or low it locks up and stalls the motor, even with the main transmission in neutral. In intermediate all gears work fine. Anybody have any ideas what I may have gone wrong?

First of all it depends on whether your 24sp input section was updated. The 1st inputs used a a hydraulic shuttle between high and reverse. They can be identified by having an H patern on the shift plate, The conversion was to an L pattern on the shift plate. The later producion tractors were produced this way. The tractor had to be stopped to shift into reverse which used the same drivetrain as low gear. Actually high gear is direct it runs through the multi disc pack. Intermediate requires no hydraulic pressure because it is engaged by the big belville washers. When shifting to low the oil is directed to the low plate engaging the the plate ate the same time oil is also directed to the intermediate pack to release it. The same holds true for High. These shifts are timed through the control valve timing pins. Which if installed wrong will drag ou the shifts. There is also a sleeve in the valve body that is lock-tited in place at a critical depth. They have been known to move or were installed wrong. The best way to troubleshoot this transmission is with 3 guages one on each pack observing the pressures.

Did you time the planetaries? If not it will lock up.

Is this the first time you have shifted it and it does this? Have you driven it for a bit then it did it? Is this the reason why you overhauled it? First I would take the linkage off the valve body and shift it by hand. Probably wont changed anything. I have put it together before and had an air lock do this but that was rare. I would guess to say you"ll have to take it back a part sounds like a spring is not allowing high or low release . I have had very little trouble with the valve body if it was working before it should still be okay. Let me know if you need more help it might be a couple of days before I check back. This is just another wonderful problem with them wonderful 2000 series powershifts!!!!! !!!!

I overhauled it because I had no low muliti power, which means I also had no reverse gear. Found low and intermediate clutches worn out and o-rings in the piston packs to be shot. Replaced the o-rings and clutches and put it back together, tried to drive it and it locked up right from the start. I have reread everything in my manual and found I may not have timed the planetary right. I can use it in intermediate as a 8 speed transmission, only problem there still is no reverse gear. Thanks to all who replied will keep you informed as to my progress. Drill in Alberta

I haven"t had mine apart, yet, my first guess would be something wrong in the planetary sets? Isn"t intermediate the straight through gearing and high and low go through planetaries? I hope someone with more knowlege pipes up.

Check your pressures before you do anything else. If they"re low it won"t release the intermediate pack.
