I just bought a really nice Massey Ferguson tractor tonight. The owner wasn't sure of the model, but thought it was either a model 35 or 135. It was made in 1973, is around 36 horsepower (gasoline engine), live PTO, full quick detach Massey Ferguson loader (has MF plate on the loader arm). The plate on the dash of the tractor shows a stamped serial number of:
"9A 78372", and on the left side of the transmission it has the raised serial number
"894 682 M3". The tractor has been kept under roof for most, if not all, of it's life, and the previous owner spent $800 replacing all the seals throughout. The past 12 years it was used only for occasional snow removal. I'm pretty excited about getting it delivered on Monday. I needed something with more horsepower and size than my Ford 8N, and this looks what I've been waiting for. Can anyone tell me what model this would be ? Also, the $5400 I paid after a little haggling seemed like a good deal, is this around the going price for one of these in excellent shape ?

Thanks for the good info. Much appreciated. I'm looking forward to the ground drying up enough to try it out with my 2-bottom plow. The differential lock feature will help a great deal I'm sure.

My book says it is a 1971 135 they are nice little tractors. the 894 682 M3 is the part number for the transmission case.

Serial # group is 1969 for a MF-135. 1964 was the last year for the MF-35. The quick-detach MF loader added very good value ($2000-2500). As long as you have power steering and don't overload it, your front end of the 135 would be the weakest area for that loader. Good luck with your new friend!
