Pulling a 6 foot rotary mower through high thick fescue. My 255 overheated.Checked radiator level before starting. Any ideas?

Had the same issue with my 255, probably posted the question here. I ended up blowing out all around radiator with a lot of air pressure-was amazed at how much junk came out.

IMMEDIATE DIFFERENCE. I still have to do that about every 2 hours when cutting nasty stuff-especially when it is really dry.

Last year I had some terraces that hadn't been mowed in years-horseweeds tall as your head. Had to blow it out about every 1/2 hour-kept portable air compressor in truck.

Pete, I cut a piece of window screen and installed it directly in front of the radiator behind the grill (only two screws to remove) on my 35. That makes it real easy to clean bugs, leaves, sandspurs, etc. with a gloved hand or a water hose, if handy, when I notice the temp. begin to rise. No more clogged radiator fins. HTH, Cosmo

Thanks for the advice. Took a look at the radiator and it was about completely covered with fescue seeds and chaff. Cleaned it and just for luck drained and flushed the radiator. So far-so good but with the stuff I'm mowing I'll be checking it more often. Thanks again
