I just purchased a MF-65 gasoline engine. What a great tractor! One challenge. My gas gauge is not working. I pulled the gauge from the tank and looked at the float. What is the troubleshooting method?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, Couple of things to check with a voltmeter. One is to see if there is a change of resistance as the float is moved from one end of it's travel to the other. The other is whether or not there is voltage at the connector on the float. If there is no voltage, the problem will be wiring, bad meter or something disconnected between the meter and switch supplying the power. Could be an ignition switch or maybe in the case of a diesel, a bad relay in the voltage regulator. Best thing would be to get a manual that has a wiring diagram to go by. Hard part will be getting under the dash to check connections. Billy
