I just bought a MF 135 gas engine tractor. It is supposed to have 1200 hours on after a rebuid but smokes really bad. I think it is blue. When I feel inside the exhaust, it is black. Can I pour some STP type of stop smoking fluid in the oil? I just changed the oil and oil filter. I don't want to damage it more than it already is. Any help would be appreciated.

I've seen MF's with Perkins engines that always smoked and fouled plugs. Been told that factory rings are hard chrome and if not broken in properly (including using the proper break-in oil for the adequate number of hours), sometimes the rings never get seated in with the cylinders.

You could pour some Marvel Mystery Oil into the cylinders through the plug hole and let it soak overnight. If the rings are just sticky, this will loosen them. If it still smokes, do a compression test. Or have you tried adjusting the carb a little leaner?
The plugs can tell you a lot.
Maybe a good workout is in order.
