Put a head on this 1085,but after it ran for a few minutes,it acted like it got tight, and quit running. Let it set for a second or two and it'll start again. It'll only run for a bit then die off. The reason for a head is it dropped a valve in the other.Could water in the fuel do that? Any Ideas? Thanks in advance!

Did you remove the piston of the cylinder that dropped the valve to see if the valve had damaged the piston. Water in the filter or a dirty filter will restrict the fuel flow cause the engine to loose power and die. The transfer pump can be bad and not supplying enough fuel to the injection pump will also cause that. Your second post if the position control lever is causing the three point pump to go into constant pumping and blowing the relief valve it will cause the engine to labor but it should not kill the engine unless it is idling slow. All so I have a few times saw the auxiliary levers to stick causing the auxiliary hydraulic system to blow the relief valve for it. that will also cause the engine to labor.

Hey, Big Dean/ Sure do appreciate the response. Was wondering if you've ever heard of the system actually bogging completely off under load? everything was working fine before it dropped the valve, can only assume that it would be doing the same afterwards. The entire ordeal over merely owning this thing leads me to believe that I no longer need to own it.

Another thought, see if anyone knows about,Is there anyway the hydraulic system can stick anywhere(i.e.,Valve spool, detent ,internal reief by-pass?)The tractor acts like it's building pressure and stalling. It doesn't have to set but a minute and will start for 10/15 seconds then stall. I've bled quite a few diesels, and feel fairly confident there's no air in the system.Any help would be appreciated.I'll not have to worry about it til next weekend, since I work out of town all week. Thanks, again.
