im not sure if im over reacting or not, but i pulled the pto shaft out the rear of the tractor to replace the seal and o-ring.before replacing it i noticed that it would turn with my hand and after installing it ,it wouldnt turn .so i checked the pto lever and some where between pulling it and putting it back the lever was between ground speed and engine so i shifted it back to ground to see if that was the problem.sure was so i then replaced the hyd fluid and tried her out. after running the moter and engaging it it sounds like a slight grinding noise which i never noiticed before and when pushing back on the lever after it is engaged it has a grinding vibration in the lever sounding like its not engaging all the way but the shaft is turning. being that this tractor is new to me and that im new to tractors i was wandering if this is right or did i install the pto shaft wrong did i leave out something . every thing seemed to have went back into place and fitted right.i was wandering if there was more to replacing it than just pulling it out and putting it back in and if that slight grinding type noise is suppose to be there and just never noticed it.

thanks in advance eaker

There are two caged needle bearing in there for the PTO shaft. One is in the three point pump rear shaft that the front of the PTO shaft runs in the other one is in the differential housing just behind the ground speed on the PTO sliding coupler. I have had several of one or both of those bearing needle to fall out when the PTO shaft is removed. That sound like that might be your problem. You can remove the access plate with the PTO shift lever in it remove the PTO shaft and the sliding coupler and ground speed gear and feel in there to see if the needles are in the gages.
