I have an "56 F40, Z134 with a Carter Carb(UT2418S). I would like to adjust the carb correctly. I have the specs on it but would like to know a little bit more about the power valve adjustment(how tractor reactions to adjustments, etc). Any help, advice or experiences are greatly appreciated.

I adjust the power side for pulling a plow the fastest.

I have two ways to adjust the idle.

One way to adjust the idle is to watch the throttle plate position controlled by the governor set as slow as it will go. Adjust the mixture for the least throttle opening.

The other way is to override the governor holding the throttle plate as closed as it will go and then adjust the idle for the fastest engine running. This way is most effective at minimizing the effects of the high speed adjustment on the idle adjustment.
