I have an opportunity to buy a '76 MF 235 diesel for $4500 that's in good overall condition. Any info or personal experience with this model would be appreciated, like parts availability, cost of parts, reliability, etc. Is $4500 fair market value? I will use it mainly for mowing. Thanks!

The MF 235 would be the one Massey Ferguson I would not buy. The 235 had real bad steering problems, due to this the 235 was discontinued after about one year. To repair the steering on the 235 just the three gears that it takes to fix it cost over $2200.00 If you have only one gear bad you have to buy all three due to a different cut on the replacement gears.(this is my experience as a MF dealer once upon a time)
