The local MF - Case IH - Kobota dealer in Weatherford Texas, Ellis Equipment, just lost their Massey Ferguson contract as a dealer. They will no longer be able to sell any MF tractors, Hesston hay equipment (also owned by AGCO), or any parts. They have been a MF dealer at least since the 1950s and maybe longer. The AGCO corporate did not like the dealer being also a dealer of Kobota tractors. The dealer tells me he was selling 20 Kobotas for every 1 MF and MF corporate did not like the pressure. Dealer says the high sales of Kubota is due to price, quality, and lower repairs. Now I will have to drive to another town to find a much smaller MF dealer, plus establish new relationships. Too bad, sad day for MF.

My nearest dealer is about an hour drive Agco looks like they are just willing to change the MF name to anything to make it sell now every piece of massey is that ugly cat yellow with a sad name like challenger on it. Agco has also taken every idea massey has and stuck it in there line and say check this new inovation out even though MF has been using it for the last 20 years. These past 2 decades have been pretty sad for old MF. I guess the only way to sell the MF is to paint it yellow The local cat dealer is sure selling the rotor massey and the small and big tractors.

It is sad. Luckily they still handle Vermeer, so I can get parts for my MF baler. I will have to travel 40 miles to get my Hesston cutter parts though. They are barely hanging on to the Case IH line.

Oh, not really. It was a sad day for MF when they ended up being part of Agco, and moving production to Brazil or whatever. I am told stories of brand new tractors still on dealer's lots starting themselves in a rainstorm due to electrical shorts that they have known about for years, and refuse to fix, and a hundred other horror stories.

One solution would be to develop a tractor "cachet" much like Harley-Davidson- the audience is probably way too narrow, but it bears some thought. Otherwise, MF is dead anyway.
