I installed a new battery, changed anti freeze, changed oil and filter, drained fuel and added new fuel, got all the carb parts moving. I am going to get some new plugs and wires because mine leave something to be desired. I tried to start it, I have spare at the plugs but I can't seem to get it running. It seems to want to start but isn't, maybe I'm not getting fuel to the carb or cylinders. Is there a good way to check this? Any suggestions?

Put some lighter fluid down into the cylinders. If you get a little bit of action out of that then you got a fuel problem. There are 3 things that make a gas engine run. Spark, compression, and fuel. Did you ever mess with the timing? If so you might want to check that over again.

Could be the valves gunked up from setting for so long .Try holding a little propane torch in front of the carburetor and let (unlit)propane gas flow into the carb as you crank it.Propane will fire in an engine when nothing else will.I used to have an old lawn mower that was so worn out that this method was the only way to start the old girl.Only mowed a postage stamp sized area around trhe shop with it.
