I am looking at a MF 690 2WD, and would like some information about this tractor. I know it was made around '83 to '86 and is 60HP, can anyone give me an approximate value for this machine? It has 6100hrs on it, but seems to run real well and is quite clean around the motor. There is a cab, but it is pretty rusty and beat up. The PTO works fine, but the 3 pt hitch doesn't appear to move up or down (except by hand). It needs new tires all around, has a fork setup instead of bucket that works well and hydraulic cylinders don't leak. I also know the engine is a perkins. Information I've seen says that the tractor has 12 forward and 4 reverse gears, yet I only noticed a high/low range. Could I have missed the other 2 range gears? The power steering is tight and seems to work well. No other information is available. The asking price is $5,000.00 Is it worth that much? I'm looking for a tractor that would haul wood, and do chores around a country homestead. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.

Dave, I would check out the problem with the 3pt hitch, the price is reasonable, but just from what you've described, I think it's been worked pretty hard. I'd keep looking.
