I have a problem with air getting into my fuel lines. I can run under load for about a half hour or so, and then it slowly dies. Bleed it as necassary, and try again for a half hour. I have only had the tractor for a couple of months, So I dont know about past filter changes. I will put two new fuel filters in, in a couple of days. I seem to get a lot of bubbles out of the top bleed valve on the injector pump, and it appears "damp" around the fuel lift pump. I can remove the vent plug above the second stage filter and there is air there too. In addition, how do I replace the two fuel filter canisters. Do they spin off? Is there a bolt holding them on. I cant seem to get them off. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I had a Ford that ran just fine, no fuel problems. I changed the fuel filter and bled it according to the instructions; like you are doing.

It would run about 30 minutes and die. Had to bleed to get it to run. Then problem repeated in 30 min.

Insured that all seals were in place on the filter and all fittings were properly secured. Found nothing there.

Took 4 bleedings to finally get all the air out. Haven't had a problem in 6 mos.

Is this the perkins 3 clinder or the standard 23C?

Sorry, I forgot to say what engine.. It is a 23c. And I believe a 1960. The serial number is SDM 201... something.

I have the same promblem with my 23C. I am in the process of up grading all the low pressure lines and replacing the old fuel filter with a new one also am replacing the sediment bowl. It can be diffucult to find where the air is coming from. My fuel filters did not have a good seal and I was get air in the fuel system. I have been trouble shooting this promblem for some time . good luck it's bit of trial and error. Check one thing at a time and rule it out and move to the next. Start from the tank and work your way to the injector pump.

Thanks for the reply. I just got my filters yesterday. All this started after I cleaned the sediment bowl, so I got a new sediment bowl gasket as well. I will let you know what I found out

Found Problem. Decided to remove fuel tank to do a good cleaning. Removed fuel lines and hardly any fuel came out. Thats odd? Went ahead with cleaning job, and what do you know? after taking off the sediment bowl from the tank (which was clear and clean by the way), I found all kinds of trash on top of the sediment bowl fitting that was hindering the flow of fuel. It was slowly starving it self!. The filters were horrible too. Now the thing almost starts itself. Ran it for two days,...allday, and still no problems. Thanks for the input!!!
