Since no one answered you I went out to the shop and looked in my MF 35 Operator's manual which should be the same thing. Engine oil (40 yrs ago) was 30w for summer; HD especially for diesel....and for heavy service on gas....would use anyway (the HD). Today a good grade of 15w-40 is what I use in my tractors (Rotella T, Delo, Delvac). Some use 10w-30, but I don't.....reason is low oil press at idle. Higher vis holds up better on old engines with a lot of wear. NAPA has filters. ----- --- The sump is common for the three functions tran/hyd/diff. MF uses GL-1 Mineral oil in 90 weight. In the north, in winter this could be a problem and would need to be thinned. Some have said they use the trans/hyd fluid that was not available then. It is in common use today so the choice is yours. Everything is more solid with the heavier oil.....things are a little stiff in the winter however, including slow response time on your lift. There are 2 drains for the one compartment. Full mark should be a pipe plug along side the side of the housing about 40% of the way up from the bottom. Fill plug is on top of the tranny cover near the gear shifter.
----- ----- ----- Mine is manual steering so they don't mention type of P/S fluid; need the DELUXE service manual for that. Some mfgrs use hyd fluid, others, Type F ATF, or 30wt oil, or others P/S fluid. Ask your dealer or look at what's in there and see if you can figure it out. If it's red, it's probably ATF. Don't forget the oil bath air cleaner. Crankcase oil is ok there. Remove and drain the bottom (cup...maybe rectangular), clean out all the crud, and fill the cup to the FULL mark; reinstall. No mention of filters in the hyd section, and if they were there, you'd have to get to the bottom of the sump to get at them; internal to the housing.
While servicing would be a good idea to clean up all your battery cables and associated connections in the high current starting loop. Things will work much better if you do, especially in the winter. Mark
