I was just wondering if anyone knows if a 35 loader will fit a 165 massey. If it is not a 35 loader what is the proper one that they came with? Thanks alot

Hi Wendell,
In theory the answer is 'YES', but, and you probably knew this was coming, there are a lot of 'buts'.
First of all the loader frame is mounted on a channel that attaches to the bolts on the belly plate. No problem there. The front attachment on the 165 requires stays to attach to the mounting faces on the sides behind the front axle. If the loader was fitted to a MF 35 (UK) then the fitting for that was a bracket under the axle casting.
Next, Does the 165 in question have any sort of safety frame fitted? TRactors after 1970 (UK) had extra mounting points on the sides of the gearbox casing for the front legs of the safety frame. If you have this type of frame the '35' loader will not fit. You will need a '40' with a swept crossbeam to clear the frame.

In short, if the 165 is an older tractor and you can acquire the correct stays (I may have some here, UK) then 'yes' it can be fitted.

Cheers
DavidP

Yes we had a MF model 35 loader on a (pre 1970) 165. The tractor did not have a cab. The front ends of the stays were bolted onto 4 holes in the casting just in front of the engine and behind the front axle just as David says.By the way Wendell don't forget to check the tightness of bolts underneath the main frame frequently. If they come loose and they break, then the fun begins.....
