I have a 1967, MF 135 Diesel, rebuilt generator, new voltage regulator. I turn the head lights when the tractor is running and the ammeter indicates discharge. The ammeter never shows a charge condition, mostly a little under zero. Can the voltage regulator be adjusted or how do you trouble shoot the condition. Thanks in advance for your help.

When I bought it about 1987, my MF-135 gas had a new regulator and didn't charge well. I did adjust it and it has worked fine since. I'm not sure which element needed adjustment but it will be the one with the fine wire in the magnet coil. Bend or adjust a screw to increase the spring tension on that unit. Do it gently, don't get the voltage so high that the battery current won't taper to zero. Should be 14.2 volts at the regulator.
