Well you have:

a wire to the center terminal

a cap

a rotor

Plus you have the top of the rotor to connect to the terminal on the under side of the cap.

The new wire is open. Use an old The cap is internally defective. Use the old
The rotor is defective???? You tried the old

But did you insure that the spring tab on top of the rotor is touching the inside button in the under side, center of the cap?

Or is the dist shaft turning the rotor?

Or is the dist shaft turning at all?

Mark

You said you have a new dist. cap, points... etc. Did you use the correct type? The TE and TO electrical parts are not intercangeable.

Just a thought.- Post this question on the H. Ferguson board. John from the UK is a wiz-bang on the TE.

BTW I also have a '48 TE. SN #429__ in Ohio.

Jeff

your problem could be with resistive plug wires, with this machine you should use copper spark plug wires.
