There"s a 44 special coming up on auction, would like a little info on the diesel engine, how it starts etc. Have run a gas, but never been around a diesel. Am assuming it starts on gas then switches to diesel like the old M Farmalls thanks Max

These tractors start on diesel. These are Continental engines. They don't start as easy as the perkins diesels in the newer masseys. It should have a glow plug in the intake manifold. The problem they had with these engines is the heads often cracked on them. Be sure the engine runs on all four cylinders and that antifreeze is not in the oil. Both can be signs of a cracked head.

The engine is full diesel. The ones I have listened to seem to run nice.Have not seen one pulling a load so I can not tell you how they are for pulling power.
