We got an 1130 massey tractor, my question is that the pto quit while i was mowing and now there is no hydraulics or steering or brakes. I was wondering if a pump quit or what, due to the dual pumps I am not very sure. I was told that there was a coupler in between the tranny and engine but i dont see one, Is it between the tranny and rear axle? Thanks In Advance
Jeremy

Jeremy

The dual pump on the 1100 series tractor has to G rotor pumps inside driven from a common shaft. The larger section delivers about 20 gallons per minute to the radial piston pump on the front of the engine at about 190 PSI where it is supercharged by the radial piston pump to around 2200 PSI for the high pressure circuits ( remotes, 3 point, steering and brakes). The small section provides about 5-7 gallons per minute at around 240 PSI to the Multi Power PTO and diff. lock. The pump is driven by a splined shaft from the back of the flywheel. It also is the same shaft that drives the PTO. The splined adapter does fail. The pump can be accesed under the top cover of the center housing (below your feet) it is bolted to the bottom side of that cover. I you remove the cover (lift it up after removing some hydraulic lines) you should be able to tell if the pump has failed or the shaft quit diving. Try turning the PTO drive clutch pack it shoud turn over the engine.

Thanks Tom,
Do you need to remove the cab to acess that cover, We were gonna split it cause that was what i was told, but according to you we dont need to right? If we turn the pto shaft from the rear, Will it turn the clutch pac? I am an Old john deere fan, not a massey one, and the service manual doesnt illustrate it very well. Thanks Jeremy

STOP!!!! Dont split the tractor yet! First thing take a 1 1/4 wrench take the line off the cover that holds the pump. Then just start the tractor does any oil come out. There should be a good amount of oil. If not then pull the cover off The PTO pack drives that pump. Put your hand on the PTO pack try to push it around. Will it spin IF it does then you have to remove the PTO pack and the shaft that powers it. It is not very common to lose the splines on the fly wheel but the other shaft that drives it does. Itt is about 2 ft. long. And it is easy to remove with PTo pack they wear out faster than the ones on the flywheel. I'm guessing you lost the key that drives the g rotor pump. Go to any Bomgaars TSC store they'll have an IT manual that is okay. MHF

Jeremy You do not have to split the tractor to get the pto clutch pack out and you do not have to remove the cab to access the PTO clutch pack you can do it by removing the cab floor board plate just in front of the seat under the floor mat.
