I have a Z134 engine that was cracked. I called several places and the cheapest block i fount was around 700.00. So i took my block to a machine shop and they magnafluxed it and found three cracks. The guy told me that welding the block was not a good idea since they have never had any luck with the weld holding up after time. So they pinned the cracks. This is done by drilling a hole in the crack and tapping the hole and then screwing a small plug in the hole. The machine shop has been around for more than 30 years so i trusted him. It only cost me 200.00 and they pressure tested the block and he even gave me a gaurantee that it was fixed. So just look around and find a machine shop that has been around awile and ask them. They should not charge you to check it out. Usually if you are goin to let them fix it they dont charge to magnaflux it. Its pretty neat and you can watch and they will show you where all the cracks are. I had sandblasted my block and i knew it had one crack but couldnt see the other two. They showed up real fast. If your like me, I didnt want to fix my block because i was worried that it would crack again but you can check the web and even ask here on this forum it has been done alot. Anyway hope this helps and also they charge by the number of cracks I had three and it cost me 200 so if you only have one it should be a little cheaper. >Zac

Mac Tractor Parts (1-800-882-4742) has refurbished Continental blocks (buy outright or exchange). They have sold these for years and have an excellent reputation.
