I just picked up a MF-165 disel, could someone give me the commerical part numbers for the fuel filters? Question 2- should the factory starter switch be the push button or key type? Q-3, on the left hand side of the dash/ins. panel is a small lever with linkage going to the clutch housing, what is it for? Thanks for you time.

Glen

You should find fuel filters at NAPA, and CarQuest stores. Visit thier online catalogs to locate numbers. It's key start, using a two position switch, run/start. The dash lever is for multi-power I think.

Hi Ray,
Thanks for the quick reply. Can you explain what how the multi-power lever is used for?
Thanks,
Glen

Your tractor has 6 forward and 2 reverse gears. Multipower is a like an overdrive, you can shift to high or low without having to press down on the clutch pedal. It is like another "half gear" between ratios. In effect you have 12 forward and 4 reverse speeds. Say you are plowing in 3rd low high multipower and you hit a tough spot, you can flick it into low to maintain tractor rpm, and flick it in to high when conditions get easier. It is very handy for baling too, you can match forward speed to the thickness of the swath. Thats the good news, the bad news is 1) you cannot tow start a multipower tractor 2)engine braking is non existant, except in high multipower 3) you can't change gears easily in high multipower.
