I recieved my new water pump w/o pulley yesterday and intended to install it last night. How is the pulley held to the pump shaft? The new pump has a straight shaft protruding from the housing, there is no shoulder to butt the pulley against, there is no key, and there is no taper lock bushing or the like to fix ther pulley to the shaft. Do I need to press the old pulley off then heat the pulley and freeze the pump to press them together or what? My manuals purchased from our host doesn't cover the G176 gas engine very well. The Perkins diesels are fully covered but they have very different water pumps.

Thanks in advance for any help.

John

I can't give you any advise about the water pump but I do agree that the service manual I bought here for my MF65 gives very little information on the gas motor where as you would have no problem rebuilding the Perkins Diesel with the same manual. Let me know if you ever find a more comprehensive service manual on the G176. I have been unable to locate one. Good Luck

Others may have better advice, but after ruining one pump on our Z134 by pressing on the end of the shaft, I did something different. I drilled and tapped a hole in the shaft and then pulled the pully on with a bolt setup.
