Does anyone know the normal operating temperature for a MF135 diesel? How hot is too hot?

My 231 also reads about 180 when warmed up. This is on a replacement gauge bought to replace the original gauge that also read 180.

I also replaced the thermostat. Maybe 180 is o.k?

MY 135 COMES RIGHT UP TO 180 AND WILL SIT THERE UNLESS HOT SUMMER TIME AND PULLING BUSH HOG ALL DAY; THEN UP TO 185. I SUSPECT THAT THE RADIATOR IS GROSSLEY OVERSIZED.

I'm sure you'll get an answer from some of the experts here that is far smarter than mine, but, I can tell you what my 135 Diesel does.

I replaced the temp gauge on mine because I thought it was broken. It hardly ever moved off 160. After replacing the gauge I'm getting about the same reading. If I run it hard for an hour or so It might move enough to tell the needle has moved, but it still runs cool. I've yet to see it over 170.
