Universal Fuel Level Gage?

Good afternoon all!

Has anyone tried to install some type of fuel level gage on a tractor that did not originally have one (other than a stick with calibrated scratches...)? This particular one is an old FE-35 diesel, and stopping to check fuel levels so I don't run dry gets old fast.

Any thoughts or ideas would be great!

Thanks,

Mike

I tried several combinations of aftermarket parts. Trying to get the right resistance to match the gauge and the shallow tank (MF 35)made it impossible to get an accurate reading.

So, as you said, mine will indicate fuel and if it does I'm not out, which is what my concern was in the first place. I can lift the lid and see how full, but to be mowing or something I didn't want to have to keep stopping and looking.

Mark

Thanks guys! I will look into the suggestions and go from here.

MtnBikerMan, please let me know how you get on with yours. I had not even considered the relatively shallow depth of this tank.

Got Fuel level sender in Friday put it in Saturday in reply to mtnbikerman, 04-19-2005 10:14:08
It is really close to hitting the bottom of the tank. The guide says 5 inches deep but its alittle bit over. I got my steering parts in today so I'll be putting it all back together and hopefully have it running by Wednesday or Thursday. I keep ya posted on the sender. I'm using the Sunpro gauge with it. The holes match up so not mods are necessary except for adjusting the sender arm and float rod

Mike, I installed one on my FE35(gas). Got the whole shebang for about $20 from J.C. Whitney. Works great. If you do install one be sure you know where the baffle is in the tank so the float has free travel. (Voice of experience)Regards, Cosmo
