I found a fence line hay rake. Wondering if it is worth getting and seeing if I can get it to work. Any ideas or thoughts? Here are some part numbers I found on the unit.

T168 , T161 , T140, T148A, T149A

I have more pictures with part numbers highlighted if that will help.

Thank you,
Rockbasss

Never seen any at shows and it would be nice to be able to see one, I have a disc that I have determined to be Massey Harris that I want to restore for shows

If its a Massey Harris,I think it is a pre 1948 model. The 4 bar model #11 had an eclosed oil bath the drive gears ran in.Your rake appears to have a tedder drive gear. The #11 did not if this helps.Does your rake have two rear wheels and 4 bars?

The rake has 2 rear wheels and 3 bars (looking at the picture). The braces the rear wheels are mounted to have the part numbers of T168 MH (outside wheel) and T161 MH (center wheel). The insert in the lower left corner of this picture shows one of the part numbers. The MH in the part number has me believe that it is a Massey Harris hay rake. The rake is on the old family farm (since been sold)and my father had a Massey Harris tractor so the rake may have been acquired at the same time.

The ad that I have lists the rear wheels having 19" diameter on the model 11.The rear wheel assembly on your rake look nothing like the picture I have.I would say you probably have a very rare piece on your hands and it looks to be in good restorable condition for its age.Go for it,bob
Oh yea, if you get to some of these antique tractor shows and someone is selling old Massey Harris Buyers Guides, it might pay you to try to find a picture of your rake.Might have to pretend to be thinking about buying the book. The prices they get for those books will shock you.lol.
