Im putting my Z134 engine back together and was wondering what kind of gasket sealer to use? I rebuilt an 8n a few years ago and i used regular rtv and after a couple of months some of the gaskets started leaking. Shurely there is something better than what i used. Also has anyone tried makeing the oil pan and valve cover gaskets out of rubber? And if so would that be better? I have noticed that now days they are putting alot of rubber gaskets on the new car and truck engines. Maybe rubber would last longer and not bleed through. And on the valve cover i have never seemed to find anything that would keep the old cork gaskets from leaking. Does anyone know of a better rtv sealant or if someone sells rubber material for makeing gaskets? THANKS.

Haven't had problems with cork valve cover gaskets leaking. Don't know what "rtv" is. Did you buy MF gasket set?

On Heads I use Kopper Koat; prefer spray to brush on. Made for it. Auto parts store.

For everything else I found a contact adhesive looking stuff that was greeninsh rather than yellow in a tube. Made by 3M I recall. My NH dealer used it in his shop and it worked super. Was looking in his service manual one day and we started talking about it. Don't have it handy or would tell you.

Might go bummin around the maint dept of your local tractor dealer and ask. Those are good guys to get to know.
