Mineral Oil, or as we know it, GL-1. Not the GL-3 -- GL-5 that is sold in auto stores as gear lube. You can get GL-1 at many tractor supply stores, sometimes at Walmart, and at most of the NAPA stores, especially the rural ones. Cheaper in 5 gal buckets. The auto gear lube has additives not good for bearings in the pump. It's hard to get fully drained. Take your time and open all the drain holes, overnight is best. Uses 32 quarts if drained completely.
