more like a couple of questions..this will be our first tractor so we don"t know much about what to look for when we buy..but we found a mf65 close to us , the tractor has excellent tread all the way around, lights , 3pt ,pto all work good..but the right front wheel bearing is bad and i notice a little oil leaking from a coupl of places..my question is.. if we have someone who is great at fixing cars will they be able with a manual work on this tractor ...seems to be not much to the motors. Are parts easy to get and are they expensive? the tractor looks good and they want $2500 for it...should i stay away from it? thanks for any help...i don"t have a big budget for this...thanks again

I have a 65 and am very pleased with it.I do all my work out of manuals with out a problem, the gas models are relativly easy to work on I have rebuilt 2 of my little masseys without problems. $2500 is a good price as long as its in decent shape. Most sell by me for over$3500 (WIS) If yo have any more questions email me

I bought a MF65 from a local mechanic a few years ago. It has been virtually fault-free. The gearshift jumped out of position a few times, but I learned to pull the pin and lift the fork back into position... and got right back to work. I paid around $3800 for it, and he through in an old grader blade with it.

I grew up on a family farm in Iowa, but moved to California back in 1978. The MF65 gets occasional use on weekends, but has never disappointed me. I run a 6" brush mower, disc, 3-pt hitch boom, post-hole digger, etc.

All I"ve had to do is replace the spark plug wires... used a "generic" set and it works fine. The user manual and shop manual are readily available on the web and are a good investment.

Good luck! If I were you, I"d try to fine a local mechanic that works on equipment for road crews or construction companies. The guy I bought from works on all kinds of heavy equipment and really knows his stuff about tractors.

Hi Keith,
To be honest someone who is a great car mechanic may be totally useless with a tractor. Try and find someone 'older' who has more experience of truck, industrial repairs etc and who has a better understanding of vehicle engineering in general. I'm available, book me on the next flight!!

Cheers
David P
