I was just wondering about doing the brakes on my MF 65. I have heard some people say that Masseys are notorious for having bad brakes and that if you replace them that in about a month of use they will seem bad again. Is this true and should I look into doing the brakes if this is the case? If I go to do it, it will cost about $350 and if it wont really help anyways then I could use that money elsewhere...any help or suggestions are appreciated...

Thanks, Rich

Mine on the 100 series last more than a month but I'm looking at a wet brake conversion kit for $799 .I would like to hear if anyone has done this and how it turned out.

I redid my brakes this winter on my Massey 65. They work great now, although I am not driving the tractor yet due to an ongoing paint project. If you aren't afraid to get your hands dirty, buy one of Big Dean's CD's and get a good manual too. Mine needed one set of pads due to a leaking axle oil seal, and the other side just needed a good cleaning out and adjustment. You'll need a good set of jack stands, and a I used a cherry picker to remove the tires and axle housings, a must if you are working by yourself. John
