We just purchased a Super 90 with a Perkins diesel. The motor is great. The problem is with the clutch/pump? The clutch wont "let go" at low RPMs. Also, when the tractor is moving and the steeing wheel is sharply turned the tractor acts like the clutch pedal is depressed and the PTO loses power. I'm told the problem is with the pump and a new one is $800-yikes!! Anybody know where I can get a used one or is there a rebuild kit or should I just fork out the $$? Is this a common problem? Thanks. Ted.

Is this a multi-power transmission? The pump is on the side which you have probaly already seen. Take the cover off pump will come with. Take the three allen bolts out that holds pump on plate. Now there should be a Big set screw in bottom of pump. Take the little roll pin out with a pair of dikes, turn the big screw out count the turns. There is a control valve inside it should move freely in other words it should fall out.If it doesnt move freely polish the valve and bore with fine emory cloth until it does. This might help some But knowing the age of tractor the pump probably has some wear also. need more info let me know!

Thanks for the tip. We'll give it a try. Last time we had the pump out and cleaned the screen the dealer said to be carefull with to O ring. If that O ring were bad do you think that could be the problem?

The oring in the housing if it was out you would know most of the time it will spray like he!! all over the side of the tractor. Let me know if what I told you works if not I"ll figure something out.

Well, we gave it a try but not much difference. There was some sludge etc that we cleaned out but not alot of help. Found a nearby dealer who has a used one w/30 day warranty. I think we'll give it shot unless anyone has another suggestion. I appreciate all the help. This site is great!!

We put the "new" used pump on and problem fixed. Just a tip for anyone else...The pump on an 80 is the same as a 90 but the gear on the end is different. It took and hour of messing with this and trip back I called the dealer and found If you are able to find a used one be sure and keep your original gear.
