Did Massey ever buy blocks from I-H ? I know Chrysler was their major supplier, I had a discussion today about a Massey having a same size block as an I-H. It may be possible the cube size was the same but the blocks themselves were not, that is I-H blocks in Massey tractors. Toss in your opinion...Mike in Exeter Ontario

OT but there was a IH with a sort of "Massey" engine! The British built IH 474 was replaced by the 475 which was factory fitted with a Perkins 62hp A4/212. My neighbour had one and he said it would "pull the rear end off" a 574 with an IH engine.

I just bought a IH 475 62HP tractor - and would be keen to find out anything you could tell me about one. Needless to say its old - but I am thinking about restoring it as most of the work is cosmetic. Any ideas where I can get a workshop manual/operators manual for one?

I never saw a Massey Harris with an IH engine in it. They did use a lot of 162 cu. in. flathead continental engines, 101 Jr and 30"s used the four cylinder 162 cu in engines. Massey used Chrysler engines in the 101 and 101 Super and I think the 201 but they were all six cylinder and larger engines I would be intersted in learning more about using the IH engines.
