Hi CJ
No problem at all adding an external system. There should be plenty of different "isolating" valves available to fit on the front of the lift cover under the seat. You are of course limited to using the main hydraulic pump where as later tractors (MF) had an auxillary pump for this purpose.
You can use the cross tapping on the side of the lift cover and have a return either to the oil filler plug or just in front of the main cross shaft on the left hand side of the cover.
To use this method you will need to be able to prevent the lift arms rising fully to maintain oil supply. The "iso" valve is a far better option but take time to think about what you want to do.
Is it for a loader, or trailer, how many services do you need? The spool valves can be mounted almost anywhere but as above check for access. Don't skimp on any brackets to mount it.
Cheers
David P

I had one with dual factory remotes, located where Gerald said.

BUTTTTT TTTTT TTT the levers were right in your way and mounting and dismounting was a real pain; especially with that deluxe seat with the back and all.

That is probably my only rub with that vintage of Fergie as compared to Ford. Just hard to get on and off and for a utility, when you can't get on and off quickly, easily, and safely, it's a bummer.

Boy! You said it about the levers making it difficult to get on and off. I"m thinking about putting a PTO pump on with another valve just for the loader. The levers sure made a handy tractor very unhandy especially when you are short.

I can imagine as I'm 6'5 and it was all I could do to swing my legs over to get on or off.

MF and Cross made a remote valve that mounted under the seat and taps the hydraulics in the lift cover. I don't know if its still available, but that's the neatest way to get remotes.

This one works pretty well unless I jog it with my foot.

I see you are running 3000 psi oil through 175 psi cast street elbows. Think that's safe all the time?

I don't think those elbows are cast. I had to hack away at another one and the steel wasn't grainy at all.

But hey, I don't know. The guy who installed it is a heavy machinery technician who took the leap into dairy farming. I'd tend to trust his judgement.
