What is the width of a 135 with the rear wheel plates and rims set for minimum width?
I haven't been able to find this on line and haven't made it to a Massey dealer to order the manuals yet.
Is there a way to order the factory manuals online?

Thanks Neal

depends

played with the bowls and lugged those filled rear wheels side to side, finally got my 1970 MF135 wheels in as far as they would go, any further and inside of rear tires rub the fenders

seems like prior owner put fatter tires on, I have 60 inch brush grinder and rear tires are narrow enough to fit inside cutting path

based on that, guess I could just squeeze fit between 2 trees roughly 56 inches apart

Grumpy,

Thank you for the help. I hope you didn't go to all that work just for me.

decided I was going to move those wheels in for chopping brush in tighter spaces

3 axle studs spun loose inside the flange, drilled the nuts off to get wheels off

to keep tires facing right direction when you want to use other side of bowl, need to change sides, wheel lug bolts now face wrong way, years of rust make them hard to get out, used 10 lb sledge on several, use lots of anti-seize when replacing

didn't think about stuff like that when I started, if I wasn't polish I would have had enuf sense to give up

Neal, We had a 135 with a 60 inch belly mower on it and we had the front wheels tucked in that much but the back wheels were power adjust type with dishes reversed and the tires still stuck out just a tad past the mower when put all the way in. What type of wheels are on the back of yours? Still have a manual someplace that I could drag out and see what it shows.

Glenn,

Thanks for the help.
The wheels are the standard type where you have to unbolt the rim from the plate and turn it around.
The nearest Massey dealer is about 50 miles away and I haven't made the trip there to order manuals yet.

Neal, get all your exact serial numbers off the tractor and telephone the MF dealer. He can then order your Operator Manual, Repair Manual, and Parts Manual for you. Save the 50 mile drive to pick them up.

Something I forgot to add is you can only go in to 52" with the power adjust wheels so if wanting to go narrower than that you have the right wheels to do it depending on your tire size. Shows power adjust wheels with 2 different size tires 28" go 52"-72" and again out to 80" with the spacers.

Found the 135 operators manual and it shows with the front wheels mounted in closer on front axle hubs you can get 48"-72" and with front wheels reversed you can get 56"-80". Also depends on which 135 you have too. Deluxe 48-72, Vineyard 41.7-53.7, Special 48-72, Orchard 48 fixed. We had a special tractor with 2 guages and lights and transmission PTO. The deluxe has more guages and options. On manual adjust rear wheels like you have it will also depend on the tire size you have. You will just have to play with dishes and rims on one side to get it where you want it and then the other side will be easy. It shows with those wheels and 12.4/11-28 tires 48"-76", 13.6/12-28 tires 48"-76", 14.9/13-24 tires 52"-72", 18.4/15-30 tires 58 3/16"(fixed orchard), 12.4/11-24 tires 40"-48"(vineyard). Something else it doesn't tell in manual that I know you can do is to put the rears out to 80" and get more adjustments for wide settings with the use of some cast spacers and special studs. The 135 we had did have those when we got it on 80" but we moved it in closer for the belly mower. The bigger tires will hit fenders like the other guy said too so just play with it and see. We also had put some of the old Ford axle weights on that 135 under the fenders to keep it from bouncing so much when mowing faster. I got a nice 66 page operators manual for the 135 from 1968 in very good condition if you want to email me about it. Good luck with the 135. I hope you got one with live PTO and power steering.

Glenn,

Thank you for all that info.
Yes my tractor has live PTO and power steering.
I am looking forward to all the new features on the 135 over my TO20.
Now I have ot get the 20 ready to sell.

Neal

My '68 MF-135 manual (that I bought from MF about 1989) shows those hub extensions in the accessories section.
