Joe

I have a 1958 Masey Harris 50 and it does not have those mounting holes. Batterey mounting? I don't think so.

It is a common component to earlier tractors which had a battery tray bolted here.

Thaks for the replies....

Now that you mentionned it if my memory
is correct it seems to me that some diesel
tractors in the 60's had 2 batteries one in the usual place under the hood and a second one
somewere else. Were there 2 X 6 volts in series
or 2 x 12 volt in parallel I do'nt remember.

However it shoud be a goo place to bolt a toolbox.

Thanks again

Joe

You got it right!!!
Yes, the bolt holes were for 2 6v batteries. I believe that there are similar on the other axle casing as well. If you are thinking to mount a toolbox on them, make sure that you have plenty of room for your foot on the footplate.
