A friend at work gave me some numbers off of his tractor to find out what year and model it is. It's suppose to be a Ferguson. ser. 704024, engine z129A600 F25Z Rear end housing T0 501B with HF in a square. Can anybody tell us what this tractor is? Any help would be apreciated. Thanks.

The Z129 definitely says it is a Continental engine for a TO-30, and the HF on the rear says it is a Harry Ferguson prior to merger. But the Serial number is too high for TO-30, so I'm gonna guess maybe the first number is a "1" instead of a "7". Is that possible? If so, it is a 1952 TO-30. If that is the case, the tractor has a four speed with start being activated by gear lever up and to the right, marked as "S" on tranny housing, and it should only have one level of speeds. The 35 and others shortly after have three speed trannys with high-low ranges and start button on dash. Hope that helps.

Yes, it does have the start on the lever, and is a 4 speed. Thanks. Not sure about the numbers though. I'll ask him to check it closer. It's at his farm place about a hundred miles away though. Might be awhile.

I believe the Ferguson TO-30/20 used a F162 or 140 (L head) Continental. I think the Z129 is a later engine. I'm not an expert on the subject though.

Seems to be a Z129 Continental engine, then it fits a TO-30

Post a picture here. It will help. That number (serial) only fits a MF 65. The straight Ferguson's don't go that high.
