Thanks to all who gave advice on the 135 diesel. I couldn't get enough on trade for my 640, so I passed on the 135. Worked out a deal with an old buddy of mine who has a 135 gas, completely restored from one end to the other. When he decides to get rid of it which will be in five or so years, I get it. That takes care of that..... I'll just have to be content with my old Ford 640 until then.

Thanks for the FB. What were his numbers if you don't mind sharing the info and what kind of shape is your 640 in?

Mark

He was asking $6700, firm for the 135 diesel. Since it's recently restored he'll get it. He only wanted to give me $2500 for my 640. I won't let go of it for less than $3800 cause it's in too good of shape. I ended up working out a deal with my old buddy on his COMPLETELY restored 135 gas. He uses it a half-dozen times a summer. He's only had it since July of this past year. He bought it off the same guy I was dealing with. I get first crack at buying it when he dies or can't use it anymore. He's around 74 years old. Of course I can use it anytime I want, but eventually I'll own it. It's better than the diesel as far as new parts, etc. Engine, tranny, hyd. all have been rebuilt, along with paint job, detailing, new rims/tires all-around.

Pretty big gap there. Haven't seen either, but it's a wide gap. I paid $4250 for a 2000D with 3600 orig hours in really good shape (except paint...no biggie for me to paint). So sounds like your price is not out of line; for me anyway.

Thanks,

Mark

Yep, too much money difference. Like I said, my 640 is worth at least $3800 to me. I'm gonna put some odds & ends on it and paint the rear fenders this summer. I'll just use it until my old buddy is ready to part with the 135 gas and I'll buy it off him. I know he won't hurt it for the little bit of messin' around he does with it.

My suggestion is buy the tractor now from your frend and let him use it whenever he wants. It sounds like he will be using it only a little and you would like to use it a lot. It might make you both happer.
