My TO35 has the 4 cylinder Standard engine. It started and ran as usual for the few hours I was skidding logs and then plowing (pulling) snow. The rpms lagged slightly, then increased, then cut off. I replaced both fuel filters, cleaned the bowl, primed all locations, and restarted. It started (with ether) and ran for about 15 minutes when the same symptoms re-occured.

It seems to be a fuel problem, but am about at the end of my troubleshooting abilities. ANY help, ideas, would be welcome.

also, while you are in the tank, drain a little fuel, and check for water. i have gone on a few service calls this winter for ice forming around the fuel pick-up inside the tank.this will cause problems similar to what you described.

Thanks Chip and preacher for the quick replies.

I"ll check that out today, soon as the sun gets up. -- I did have some water (thumb sized blob) in the fuel bowl and a couple oz in the water separator (1st filter). I suspected water in the lines and ran the salamander to melt it all.

I"ll post the results.

Remove the screen filter in the tank by taking the sediment bowl out of the bottom of the tank. These screens will plug up with sediment and fauled fuel. A good cleaning of this screen should help. I had this happen twice on my MF35 diesel.
