I have a 2200 industrial that has a leak at the rear axle that is leaking onto the brakes, it has drum and shoes it's not the planatary type axles. How hard of a repair is this? Do i have to take the axle all apart? Is the seal just behind the hub or is it in further? Thanks for your help. Mark

There is a press on sleeve that holds the axle bearing in place. This would need to be removed to replace the outer seal. Unless the bearing is bad you are wasting time and $. Once you remove the axle look inside the trumpet housing and you'll see the seal that needs replacing(part #195678m1). Pop out the bad seal, install a new one, repack the axle bearing, reinstall the axle, replace the wheel assy, and you are done.

Check how much play you have in the axle(vertical) when you have the wheel removed. There should be some shims between the bearing housing and the trumpet flange. Remove enough to take the play away otherwise you still might have a leak.
