I tried to adjust the controls the way they did in a video I bought showed. That doesn"t work for me. I took the top plate to the local dealer they said it took a special tool and they could adjust it for me. I called them back today and spoke to the mechanic and hes said they don"t have the tools for this older style control.

anyone have any suggestions for adjusting the controls on a MF35?

Thanks

Joel

You need a 3lb weight and some string, effectively a 'dummy' for to apply the same force as the pump internal control spring. I use a big 1" bolt and some washers to get the weight exact. With help, put the lift cover in a vice, gripped around the front so that the piston is pointing vertically upwards. You can now hang the string on one lever at a time to set them up. There is an MF tool which involves a weight and a pulley so that you can set it up with the lift head upside down. I have done loads this way and not had a problem. Follow the procedure from the MF workshop manual, these are readilly available. Make sure that you adjust the draft spring first, and have the arms supported in the correct position.
