Well, although it is winter my 44 cranks over pretty slow even when warm. It doesnt need to crank alot, just like 2-4 rotations of the starter and she fires right over, But the 2-4 ratations are kinda like this "1..... 2...3.4" were as my farmall H cranks alot quiker. Is normal? Just becuase its a 260 compared to a 152? Or is my electrical system in need of some work?

I assume you have cleaned the battery terminals and had the battery checked?Could be several other things.Check the battery cables for bulges. They could have some corrosion inside the insulation.Check and clean the grounds including the starter to bellhousing connection. The starter might need to be rebuilt. The starter button might need to be replaced. Engine timing could also be too fast.

Dont "assume" to much, you know what that does.

I didnt have this tractor for a long time yet and i did replace one bettery cable becuase it looked horible, otherwise i thought everything else looked fair. The one i replaced went from the battery to the starter and i used 0 guage cable. I will look everything over next time i get out of work early like i did today.

I had the same problem with my MH44. The battery cable run is very long from batt to swich to starter. I bought the biggest cable I could find. That helped quite a bit. This winter, I took the starter apart and found that the front bushing had worn enough to let the rotor rub against one of the windings. A new bushing was $0.75 at the parts store. Now it turns over like it should. The only other thing I would try, if I need more cranking speed, is to add a start solenoid into the system. That would shorten the length of battery cable. Good luck

When i have off of work and if i have nothing else to do electrical tune up will be my next chore. Ill go throught pretty much all the electrical system that is visable to me and clean everything and make sure i get new cables were needed. Then while im at it maybe i should check the Farmall H too if i have enough time.
