Got a 35 Gas and am fighting like hell to put the spindles back in after putting in new bushings. The MF dealer said to put in the new ones and get back to work???? Got 1/4 the way in with spindle and it is stiff as hell. The IT book says reaming???? What next.Robert Goodfellow, Montreal

ROBERT- I HAVE A MF50, IT IS THE SAME AS YOUR 35. I HAVE INSTALLED NEW BUSHINGS IN IT LAST SUMMER. GARY IS RIGHT ON THE MONEY, THEN FLAPPER WHEEL WORKS GREAT.CAUTION THOUGH, I DID NOT NOTICE THE BAD WEAR ON MY SPINDLES UNTIL AFTER I WAS INTO THE PROCESS. CLEAN THEM UP AND TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT THEM. GOOD LUCK! LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY MORE PROBLEMS, I HAVE DONE ALOT OF WORK ON MINE SINCE I BOGHT IT LAST SUMMER.

These bushes need to be reamed to 1 1/4". I have often found that the spindle wears faster than the bush, so sometimes just build this up with weld and turn back down to size and leave bushes intact.

Robert...I have used a flap wheel on a pneumatic die grinder and a small drum sander on a drill to remove some of the bushing so that you can get the spindles back in. Just make sure they will insert into the bushing. Did you also replace the thrust bearing and the felt washer?
