Is type 'A' trans fluid the same as MF1129 ? One of my manuals tell me to use type A trans fluid in the power steering and the other one tells me to use MF1129.

Type A transmission fluid has not been made in many years. It has been replaced by Dexron. I would think that you could use Dexron or generic power steering fluid from your local auto parts store. Just don't use Type F transmission fluid as that has quite different characteristics.

I would use MF PermaTran III. Others may differ in opinion. I use MF PT III in diff/trans/hyd/wet brakes/final pln drives/power steering, in other words everything but the engine.
