MF 35 Stuck in 1st Gear

My MF 35 stuck in 1st gear. The high/low works all right. Can anyone suggest how to correct? The hole that the lever goes through doesn"t leave a very big opening to look/work through (especially if one doesn"t know what to look for). Taking the gas tank/steering column etc. off so the top cover of the transmission can be removed hopefully is not the only option?!?

Thanks to everyone in advance!

Go to Big Dean's site ->Link
There>Link is an explanation on how to correct it. Using his instructions, I have corrected mine in less than two minutes. I could explain it, but might lose something in translation, better for you to read it yourself. C. T.

Thanks C.T.! The fix sounds almost too good to be true, but it also sounds reasonable. You can bet I'm going to give it a try! Deans is a good website!! Thanks much for your help!

I checked the information on Big Dean's website and it sounds exactly the same as what I did on my 1960 MF Workbull 202 a number of years ago, mine got stuck in reverse. I have done this fix twice now, it usually happens to me when I am on a slope and shift gears while putting some strain on the shifter due to the slant of the tractor. I now watch how I brace myself while shifting on a slope. When it happened the first time I had visions of having to split the tractor. After looking into the filler hole and probing with a 1/2 drive socket extension I was back on the road in no time.
