Hello, I spotted a MF 4255 at the local dealer today. Looked like a super nice rig and I would like to know the rated pto horsepower?. I searched the archives but couldn't find much.
Thanks in advance!

I have had a MF 4255. It has 95 hp at the engine.
I sold it soon because it didn't last very good.
Don't buy it with electronic EHR , take only the original MF boxerpump.Don't buy it also with dropping hood (the small cooler let's the engine overheat).I couldn't trust this tractor.Every time
when I need his power it failed. I bought it new
for 40000 Euros and trade it in for a John Deere
after 4 years and 2000 hours on the clock and got
15000 Euros for it. Bad deal.

I'm fairly new to Masseys, so I've got to ask "whats a EHR"?. Yes this one did have the sloped high visibility hood. I actually really liked that feature because I could see really well. If they were junk, it would make alot more sense why it was traded in for a new Case IH with just 289hrs on it, everything was still like new except the paint, the paint was in really poor condition, peeling and rusting everywhere. What kinds of work did you do to make yours overheat?.
Thanks!

Hi, sorry EHR is the german word for electronic threepoint hitch regulation in this case it is from Bosch and works together with a double hydro
pump and not with the original MF boxerpump.I have
a hydraulic driven potatoharvester and had a lot of problems with the Boschpumps.Every yearI had to put a new one in.I took the MF as my main tractor so it has to do everything from trailing the sprayer to hard ploughing. volker

4200 series add 40 to the HP, 4255 is 95HP. Except if it"s fitted with a green (stage I emissions) engine, as some exported to the US were, and all 4300 series. These are slightly more powerfull, although the green US exports went out on slightly different model numbers, eg if I remember the 4245 became a 4243. A 110 HP 4270 became a 116 HP 4370 when fitted with a green engine. The 4255/4355 were in my opinion the best tractors to come out of Banner Lane, the weight and balance were perfect, great loader tractor and good in the field and on the road. They run rings round the comparable NH"s, and are a lot cheaper than a JD.

Masseys generally you just add 30 to the last number, so yer 85HP

85hp!!, wow, I was thinking it was going to be in the 55-65hp range, the engine didn't look very big. Them Perkins I understand are some of the best diesel engines in the world.
Thanks for responding
