Anybody running a 410 in harvest anymore? Mine was working great until the very end when it seemed like it wasn't getting the large trash up to the straw walkers. It seemed like it was trying to squeeze most of the trash across the sieves and it would clog at the front of the sieves sometimes. Of course I'm sure it wasn't designed for 200 bushel corn either. I went the absolutely slowest I could go. Any ideas? Thanks

Thanks STUDIE, that will get me started on the right track. It"s such a good combine otherwise that I can"t stand to part with it.

Dad ran a 410 until it caught fire a couple of years ago. Now he runsa 510.

We use a 205 at the local Historical Society to harvest the crops.

There"s a message board similar to this one that deals with MF combines at:

HEY! thought I was the only one who harvested with antiques! We run a 510D and a 410D and a 410G.they each run at least 200a.a year.anyway, check your beater bars to make sure they`re all intact, with the age of these machines pieces start to break out, mainly on the ends of the bars, also check the very front of the walkers, the ribbed parts break out and can`t grab the trash from the beater.have had your same problem, this is what I`ve found.good luck!
refreshing to know someone else likes these old dudes too! wouldn`t trade mine!

the 300s were such a good machine, fairly easy to work on,and like the energizer bunny, "they just keep going&going". anyway, one thing that comes to mind is the main power shaft, you might loosen the drive belts and the auger drive belt and see if there is ANY excessive sideways,up-down movement in this shaft,if there is,it will indicate heavy wear on the drive plate splines and also the shaft splines.the pilot bushing in the back of the crankshaft will be bad also.should change the bearing in the powershaft housing too.hopfully yours is ok,this is just one MAJOR thing I`ve dealt with on a 300. If you have any other areas in question,I will be glad to help.

Thanks STUDIEdiesel63! I haven't taken this apart, but now I will. I have noticed some noise coming from that area. I can see where that would really be a bear to fix at a later date. Right now I have the grain tanks and some other stuff off. I'll be sure I fix that before going any further! thanks again.

if you hear noise from that area, the power shaft is the culprit.makes a chattery, kinda rattling noise.with the tank off at least you can get in there easier. good luck!
