For sometime now, I thought I had a MF-35 Diesel, 1961 model. Perkins 3 cyl. engine, high and low ranges, Ser# SNM 211118. Made in England, cannot read anything else. The serial # has me somewhat confused. If it is a FE, serial # makes it a 1960 model. Also, what does the prefix of SNM stand for. Any help appreciated. Not quite sure what I do have. Need to replace clutch..... ..... ...

Thanks guys for all the comments. I too believe that what I have is a 1960 FE-35. To be on the safe side, think I will have the parts guy check and see if the same clutch fits both tractors. Have tried to locate a photo of the 1960 FE-35 diesel to see if there are any visible differences, can't find one. Whatever I find out, I will let you know..... ..... ..... ..

Thanks. Good Site. Cleared up my question. Seems that the Ser#'s applied to both the FE and the MF but, being made in the UK puts both in the year of 1960. If the tractor was made in the US, the Ser# would make the tractor a 1961 model.

I'd say it's a 1960. A note in my manual says that 1961's ran from 220614 to 267527.

i ordered a set of brake shoes for a mf-35 from the local mf dealer for around $85 . but they would not fit my tractor the holes for the keepers were drilled in different place than mine. after we figured out what tractor i had the right set cost $300 just being an english made tractor but i guess im not real sure if mine is a mf ot fe.

S= standard chassis
N= Perkins Diesel engine
M= Dual stage clutch

I believe your tractor is a 1960 model FE-35. The designation change to MF 35 took place in late 1960.

Thanks Paul. Think maybe you are right. On this web site, the serial # is shown to be for the 1961 MF-35. Other web sites, show it to be for the 1960 FE-35. Sometime back, I ordered a complete engine gasket kit for the MF-35. Had to replace pan gasket etc. Everything fit. Maybe they are virtually the same tractor. Thanks for the info..... ..... ....

The TO-35 (US) the FE-35 (UK) and the MF 35 (both US & UK) were essentially the same tractor. There were engine and a few other differences but most parts are common to all three.

Thanks again Paul. Just wanted to make sure before I ordered the clutch. Wouldn't worry too much about fixing it, for I have other tractors, except for the fact it is a "Hoss". Best tractor I have. Is strong and in top condition. Appreciate the info..... ....
