I have a MF135 diesel with a 6 speed non-multipower transmission and 2 stage (dual) clutch. I am about to split the tractor to replace the rear main seal and clutch. I would like to renew the drive and pto input seals while I am in there. The manual (I&T para.177, fig. 212.)says that the shaft underneath the main input shafts (pto front driveshaft) must be "bumped" back and a gear dropped to allow the main input shafts to slide forward and out of the transmission. Does anyone know if you have to separate the rear case/differential from the transmission in order to "bump" the lower shaft back? Thanks in advance and kindest regards, Kevin.

The MF135 with a 6 speed transmission to replace the input shaft seals you do have to remove the transmission from the rear center housing to move the shaft back enough to let the lower pto drive gear drop down.

Big Dean...thank you, thank you, thank you. Hmmmm, I guess I will have to scrounge up some more jacks, timber cribbing, clean buckets, spare time...Is there anything worth looking at or replacing once I"m into the back of the transmission? My theory on machinery is to replace everything that tends towear out while I am looking at it and hopefully, not have to re-split a piece of equipmant later. Cheers Kevin.

You say in your first post that you are splitting your tractor to replace the rear crankshaft seal it is rare that those seals leak 90 percent of the time when you have engine oil leaking into the clutch area it is the rear pan gasket not the seal.
