Hi, I'm a new owner of an old Massey Harris and need some information about Massey's. I presently own a 8N Ford and no nothing about Massey Harris that I'm going to pick up on Thursday. I have a serial number on the motor MFB162G120477, can anyone tell me what model it is or what vintage it is? Previous owner has had tractor for a while and thinks he was told it was a year 49. It has 192 cu in motor and 5 speed gear shift with throttle on upright post, belt pulley and PTO shaft, no hydraulics. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks
Stan

Stan, you emailed me at home yesterday (Sunday) and now I see your posting. I'm at work now (shouldn't be on the site but I am) and I looked through a bunch of my stuff and I would say that I am 95% sure you've got a MH model 30. As I said in my email, I've got some nice stuff here for you so I'll email you again tonight (Monday). There were thousands of those engines used on various agricultural tractors (like MH, etc.) and also even more on Lincoln welders, and they were still using them until a few years ago (but I believe have since gone to overhead valve models). I'll talk to you later.

To Alberta Mike. I too bought a MH 30 and am interested on any info I can find on these units. I just bought another 30 for a parts tractor this past weekend with a MH loader and semi-mount sickle bar mower. If you don't mind the bother, would you be so kind to email any info you have. It would be greatly appreciated. If it's too much bother, I understand. Thanks in advance.
